How to Get to Melbourne
Public Transportation – Melbourne’s public bus system is safe and reliable, connecting all major hubs such as shopping centers and attractions. The fare depends on how many zones you travel through, starting at $3 AUD. A daily pass costs $10 AUD. You’ll need a myki card (or mobile app) to travel.
For airport transfers, the Skybus offers one-way fares at $19.75 AUD and round-trip fares at $32 AUD.
Melbourne has a Free Tram Zone in the CBD (Central Business District), extending from the Queen Victoria Market to Docklands, Flinders Street Station, Federation Square, and Spring Street. When to Visit Melbourne
Melbourne is a great destination all year round, with plenty of things to do. Personally, I prefer visiting in March to May or September to October, which are considered shoulder seasons. During these times, the temperature is much more comfortable, with highs reaching around 24°C/75°F. It’s also less crowded, making it a pleasant time for exploration and leisurely activities.
The summer months from December to February are the busiest in Melbourne as it coincides with Australia’s summer, attracting many tourists seeking warmer weather. The temperatures during this time, usually reach around 20 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit), but it’s known to go higher as well.
Melbourne’s winter (June to August) can be quite cold and gloomy, especially when compared to cities like Sydney and Brisbane. However, during these months, you can definitely score great travel deals and hotel prices, making it worthwhile to visit regardless—especially if you’re interested in the city’s café culture and culinary delights.
Overall, Melbourne has something to offer in every season, and the best time to visit depends on your preferences and what you want to experience during your trip.
